If you want your motorcycle history in a lightweight form, suitable to grasp the subject, but not deep enough to wear an anorak, then this American book by Laurel C. Allen and Mark Gardiner could be right for you.
The odd sized hardback is well illustrated with period photos, but despite nearly 200 pages is pretty lightweight in content. It stays with the on and off-road competition stuff and is bang up-to-date with information and pictures.
However, I have at least two other books on the shelf that cover the racing machines in depth and really do show this up as a lightweight read. There is nothing in this tome that cannot be found elsewhere and at $29.95 it is expensive for what it is. Even BMW aficionados would be hard to justify purchasing it!
