The MotoGP Source Book by Julian Ryder and Martin Raines |
|
This officially licensed hardback book from Haynes, covers the first sixty years of world championship motorcycle racing. It is written and compiled by two of the most authorative experts of the subject Julian Ryder and Martin Raines. Each year gets an opening spread of text listing the runners and riders and a second spread gets information on a significant event that took place during the year. In addition a series of bullet points list other notable events in the various classes. As you would expect the final tables are shown for the various capacities showing how riders faired in each race. Period images from each year are used to illustrate the text and in some ways help to illustrate not only bikes development, but also the evolvement of riding apparel. Despite it being mainly a source book of facts and figures, it is very readable and sits nicely alongside some of Ryder’s other MotoGP books for the same publisher. It is a useful tome for all MotoGP fans bringing many facts and figures together in one place and will provide a useful coffee table book sitting next to the TV remote during each MotoGP race on the box. Those involved in quizzes will love this book and a quick read before going down the bike club, will have you sounding as knowledgeable as Ryder sounds on the TV. At £30.00 it is perhaps one for the serious MotoGP pundit, but it is still excellent value for all.
