Joey Dunlop –The TT Wins by Duke Video

y Dunlop –The TT Wins by Duke VideoHaving sat through the 207 minutes of this Duke DVD, I just cannot argue with their assertion that it is the most comprehensive collection of action-packed race footage celebrating Joey’s 26 victories at the TT ever gathered together.

To compile this superb programmed they have had to go outside their own archives, which many would regard as the most extensive motorsport collection anywhere in the world. In addition they even put out a worldwide appeal for footage. As a result there are highlights from 24 of Dunlop’s TT wins only missing out his first win – the 1977 Jubilee TT – and the 1984 Formula One.

The DVD starts as you might expect with his early races and works its way through in chronological order and it is interesting to watch how the quality of the pictures improves along with the bikes and speeds. You can also spot how Duke became more inventive to cover the TT each year and bring a real sense of being there!

I must confess I was there for all of them apart from the very first one and the whole three plus hours became a massive nostalgia kick. Not only of course because of William Joseph Dunlop, O.B.E, M.B.E, but also for the large number of other riders who appear in the footage.

In fact it is like moving history, TT greats in their own right battling against the man that many regard as the undisputed King of the Mountain. Mick Grant, Roger Marshall, Carl Fogarty, Steve Hislop, David Jefferies and John McGuinness to name just a few of the men who made him work for his victories and records are shown in the various clips.

These of course continued to the end of his career which tragically ended well away from the circuit he made his own, smashing the record books in oblivion with a tally that is never likely to be beaten.

It seems fitting to record that in 2000 his last TT, at the age of 48, he defied all the odds and became the first man to take three TT wins in a week for the third time. This was also his seventh F1 victory after what many believe, myself included, to be his greatest ever ride.

Interviews and race footage taken form all the coverage allows you to recall the TT magic that was Joey Dunlop.

In fact it is pointless going on any further suffice to say any Joey fan cannot miss this superb fitting tribute anymore that can any TT fan.

And anybody who still does not understand the magic that is the TT, should watch it to see the master give a class that will help you understand!

Highly recommended especially considering its very reasonable £16.99 cover price. Ref: DMDVD 1847
