Route to GloryArguably MotoGP is the pinnacle of motorcycle racing and the World
Championship is the ultimate goal which only a handful of the very best will achieve, witness the current small group of ‘aliens’ in amongst the top runners.

Just in case you have ever wondered how these riders get their skills and seem to rise above the rest of us mere mortals when they get on a bike, the new ‘Route to Glory’ DVD from Duke Marketing goes a long way to explain. In this officially sanctioned presentation some of today’s greatest
MotoGP stars discuss how they got started, the influences, challenges and emotions which shaped their careers.

Over an hour you get to see some in-depth interviews with Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Nicky Hayden, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa, Andrea Dovizioso, Alvaro Bautista, Hiroshi Aoyama, Julian Simon, Mike di Meglio and our own Bradley Smith.

Add to this the likes of legends Wayne Rainey, Eddie Lawson and Kevin Schwantz putting in their experiences and you really do get some idea of the dedication needed to get to the top and more importantly to be able to stay there.

What makes this DVD stand out though is the fact that many of the stars have released family footage of themselves as children starting out and also early race footage of their races as they have risen through the ranks.

As a result of this and the ability to compare their routes to the top you realise that to be great you need to start very early, you need to start on the dirt and like anything else you need to constantly practice. Having parents with useful contacts, or having been a racer themselves (Rossi) also helps, as does a mental ability to deal with physical pain when crashing and other general set backs!

Basically, you realise that for most of us it way to late, but it is not too late to enjoy this presentation which at least helps you understand and adds to the enjoyment of watching a race. Besides it helps you look back and reflect on what might have been if your parents had put you on a bike as soon as you could walk!

As usual all race footage and the overall programme is without fault and the best you can get making it well worth the £19.99 asking price.
