Duke Marketing continue with their trawl though the classic archives and in this case take three films from the BP library and nicely mate them together for a 67 minute presentation of pure nostalgia. In this case the main feature is a colour film called The Right Line, which was originally made as a guide to becoming a motorcycle Grand Prix racer. It is narrated by former Isle of Man TT winner and respected race commentator Graham Walker, the father of Murray. It charts a biking career from trials to Grand Prix via motocross and club racing and it is interesting to note that this is much the route Valentino Rossi et al have taken as shown in the Duke presentation The Route to Glory (ref:1863). Included is classic action from the Scottish Six Day Trial, Motocross Grand Prix racing at Hawkstone Park, club racing at Cadwell Park, the Junior TT in the Isle of Man and, finally, the gripping German GP at the Solitude circuit. Also included is some rare footage of the great Bob McIntyre testing at Oulton Park, when you get the opportunity to ride on-board with Bob Mac. As a fan of his, to me this DVD is worth it just to watch one of the finest riders ever doing what he did best! However, the presentation actually starts with a black and white film of the 1955 Ulster Grand Prix 1955. Again a superb chance to watch some of the greats like McIntyre, John Surtees, Dickie Dale, John Hartle and Bill Lomas in action on the Dundrod course. The next film is Grand Prix de France in colour with commentary from Raymond Baxter, as he voices the action from both the 350cc and 500cc races at the then new Clermont-Ferrand circuit. Norton, AJS, MV Agusta do battle in the solo classes and there is also rare action of the World Championship sidecar race. I can’t think of a bad thing to say about this DVD, which I have already watched three times just for the Bob Mac action and I just hope Duke keep bringing out these gems for all of us who are classic fans and enjoying racing when it was less high pressure and hi tech! Highly recommended” Again very reasonably priced at £19.99. Ref: 1856 Available from leading video outlets or direct from Duke Video: Tel 01624 640 000, fax 01624 640 001 or email mail@dukevideo.com.
