Having now used them through out the summer and half of this winter, its time to give our thoughts on this product. Over the year’s I have used all sorts of helmet and visor cleaning products, from aerosol cans, to plastic spray bottles, to spray bottles with cleaning sponges on, all with varying degrees of success in cleaning my visor and helmet. So I have to say I was somewhat sceptical on having yet another such product to try. The product claims to remove flies, mud and hard to remove road grime on your visor and helmet (and headlights and windscreens). In the summer squashed flies and bugs seem to stick to your visor and helmet like some natural form of super glue and in the winter we motorcyclist are plagued by road grime, spray and mud plastering our visors. What you need is something quick and totally effective to clean your helmet and more importantly to clean your visor to restore that all important vision to 100%, in fact keeping your visor clean is most certainly a motorcycle safety issue. None of us should be riding around with dirty visors obscuring our view of the road! This product is different from the conventional in that it consists of a metal foil packet which contains two items. One is the specially formulated wet wipe impregnated with the cleaning solution and the other is a dry tissue. The cleaning procedure is that you take a fresh wipe and lay it over the surface to be cleaned i.e. your visor, allow it to soak for 30-60 seconds, wipe the surface clean and then buff to a crystal clean shine with the dry tissue provided. To say this product is effective would be an understatement, the cleaning solution in the wipe loosens, softens and removes the most stubborn of super glued insect guts and road grime from the surface of your visor or helmet and a quick buff over with the wipe removes any remaining traces. Then a quick polish with the dry tissue and “hey presto”, a clean visor and helmet! The cleaning solution unlike some others I’ve used leaves your visor completely streak free for a clean view immediately. One suspects that this product is only expected to be used once and discarded, because unfortunately the packet is not reseal-able, however I found if you put the cloths back in the packet and fold the open foil packet top over (providing the weather is not to hot), the wipe will stay damp for several days and you can get several more uses out of it before it dry’s out. These wipes really are convenient; keeping one or two packets in a pocket of your motorcycle jacket means you always have a through, instant helmet cleaning solution at hand. Oh, also they claim not to scratch your helmet and visor and which during our use, they didn’t!
